Topic C-1

Gen AI for Beginners

This workshop series is an outcome from our earlier, peer-reviewed pilot called. “A Canada-Sweden workshop series: Applications of Generative AI for Citizens and others”.   Anyone wishing to develop knowledge in this area is welcome.

Definition: Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to machines or systems designed to perform tasks that require human-like cognitive functions, such as reasoning, learning, perception and decision-making. Generative AI, a subset of AI, focuses on creating new content—such as text, images, or music—by learning patterns from existing data.

Workshop 1An introduction to Generative AI, covering its definition, historical evolution, an overview of popular AI tools and a discussion on future opportunities and potential challenges of the technology.

Workshop 2  – How to save time and fact-check for a digital travelogue, featuring a Swedish historical person of global renown, using a set of Gen AI tools.  Learn to compose prompts so a GenAI tool returns useful content. Find out how to fact check the results. Finally, choose your own historical person or event to investigate.

Workshop 3Present your project. With co-learners as your audience, showcase a digital travelogue that you have assembled and fact-checked.

Workshop 4Issues and ethics for GenAI (Optional, but potentially useful if your plan is to submit your work to other bodies, or apply for grants.
