At Asc-IST our commitment to you, our customers and clients, is to ensure the protection of your privacy when you do business with us. Asc-IST services meet the requirements outlined in the Federally legislated “Personal Information Protection and Electronic Document Act,” (PIPEDA). With your consent, Asc-IST may collect and use personal information that you provide in order to provide services and products to you. Asc-IST only collects the most minimal set of personal information required to offer these services and only with your permission.
What is personal information?
Personal information is broadly defined as information about an identifiable individual in both paper and electronic form. For Asc-IST, this typically includes name, title, organizational affiliation, city, telephone and e-mail address.
How does Asc-IST use your personal information? Personal information will only be requested and used for the stated purpose to: fulfill your request for on-line meeting and mentoring services, and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
We may also summarize your personal information for statistical purposes that no longer identifies you as an individual and is used for analysis only. You may choose not to provide us with any of your personal information subject to applicable legal requirements or restrictions. However, if you make this choice we may not be able to provide you with the service you required.
How is your consent obtained?
You can provide your consent for us to use your personal information in a number of ways:
- Implied consent – when you provide personal information for a product or service. For example, you may provide us with your name and e-mail address in order for us to provide you with on-line meeting space. The information requested is used only for the purpose of the meeting and for communications between you and Asc-IST.
- Express consent – when you provide information in writing or as part of an application process. For example, when you join an e-mail discussion list or pay an Asc-IST invoice on-line, it is clearly stated in the payment process that, by pressing the ‘Pay with Paypal’ button you are acknowledging and consenting to use of the information you have submitted in the application process.
From time to time you may participate in polls that Asc-IST runs. If you participate you may be asked for contact information to advise of products and services that might be of interest to you. You will have an opportunity to “opt out” and/or withdraw your consent at any time after which there will be no further contact.
